As part of its effort to support the inclusion of Persons with Disability (PWDs) into mainstream Indian society, PiC along with ActionAid International India and Sabala (the disability initiative of AAI-India), started a project to promote the corporate sector participation in enhancing employability of PWDs. The objective is “To ensure employability with dignity, equal opportunity and fair wages for persons with disability.” In keeping with its Strategic Objective which states; Assist individual businesses in the development and implementation of programmes aimed at disadvantaged people and communities, either by themselves or in partnership with NGOs and government agencies, PiC have driven this Novib funded project out of Delhi.

A preliminary research was conducted by PiC along with ActionAid International India to identify the opportunities and training needs for PWDs in the ITES and the Apparel sectors. The research helped:

To list down the tasks available in the above mentioned sectors
To assess the tasks in terms of skill requirement and disabilities to be accommodated
To recommend the trades in which vocational training could be provided
