b. Provision of scholarships and stipend exclusively for the study of CR-Related topics

As was done with resource support for CR research, monetary support for the study of CR was looked into to assess how much the institutions are doing to facilitate the access of students to CR teaching.

Within the broad resource support, financial assistance by way of scholarships for the study of CR is rather scant with only 5.8 percent of the institutions claiming to provide it.

Institutions that provide scholarships for the study of CR (5.8 percent of the sample) report that most of the scholarships granted for the study of CR are merit-based.

Consultancy work undertaken by the institution

A sure yardstick for gauging active engagement in the CR agenda is consultancy work undertaken by Management Institutions in the area of CR. The same was sought to be measured by the study through assessing how many institutions actually undertake consultancy work for external clients.

Of the institutions in the overall sample, 24 percent were found to be undertaking consultancy work in diverse areas within CR for external clients.

The study also tried to determine how seriously CR is taken as an arena of focused study. To gauge this, the Management Institutions participating in the study were asked if they had any faculty engaged in research on CR. A notable proportion (37.5 percent) of the Management Institutions said CR figured as an area of research for their faculty.

c. Areas in which consultancy work is undertaken by the institutions

Indicatively, some of the consultancy projects undertaken were Business and Community Development, Audit and Review, Strategizing CR, Environment, Sustainability Reporting and Disaster.

More specifically, some of these projects involved exercises, for instance, the rehabilitation of families displaced by the construction of an information technology park, training of sex workers, social counselling, adult education, etc.
