Policy for internal stakeholders

The research gauged the presence of policies with regard to specific stakeholders in the Management Institutions. The findings for the stakeholder group of students were the most encouraging with 75 percent of all Management Institutions surveyed confirming having policies in place for them.More pointedly, 65.4 percent of the institutions claim to have built-in policies for affirmative action through quotas and scholarships for students. As regards the school management, there exist policies in 67.3 percent of the institutions in the sample. It also emerges that staff ethics is a preferred area for policy installation in Management Institutions with 83.7 percent of all institutions having written policies for the same. Governance and transparency is another issue that finds favour with Management Institutions as far as policy goes (73.1 percent). The most prominent policy planned for the future seems to be on school management (6.7 percent).

Policy for external stakeholders

External stakeholder policy areas include environment and external stakeholder relations. Within environment, which is an area where a majority report having policies (58.7 percent), 42.3 percent of Management Institutions claim to have policies on recycling and 59.6 percent on energy-saving. External stakeholder relations are found to be deemed important for policy with 49 percent having policies on the same. At 65.4 percent, the majority within this group have policy support for supporting NGOs followed by policy for grievance redressal mechanisms at 58.7 percent. The area that has the most Management Institutions with policy in the pipeline is pro bono work by staff or students (6.7 percent).
