Explanatory note: About 51% of the respondents opined that the entire workforce could utilise CR awareness-building and training with 36 percent identifying the middle management as having the most need for CR awareness and training followed closely by the HR Department at 32 percent. This belied the expectation since the HR Department with its inherent association with CR roles was presumed to be rated lower in terms of need. The CR Department, it was felt, was in the least need for training and awareness. MNCs had the highest proportion (56%) across company categories as also staff levels in exhibiting the feeling of the need for awareness across all levels with emphasis on the middle management level. The majority (37%) of PSUs believed the HR Department warranted CR awareness and training. Pharmaceuticals rated the HR Department the highest on awareness and training need at 55 percent. Power, IT and ITES, Auto and Auto Ancillary, and Banking too pegged the greatest need on this department at 45, 38, 23 and 39 percent respectively. IT and ITES felt the CR Department needed these inputs the most with 27 percent reporting the same.

11.3 Participation in any CR related external training

Merely 7% of the total respondents reported to have participated in CR related external training. The disaggregated percentages of participation remained the same across company categories (7-8%). IT and ITES, relatively, had the highest external training participation levels (14%). The respondents who reported having participated in any external CR training were asked about the organisation, which had convened the training. While more than half of the respondents were not able to give the names of these organisations, the others named some renowned groups and organisations.
