6.7 CR policies of Indian MNCs abroad

Explanatory note : A majority of the Indian MNCs (56%) operating outside India maintained that their sustainability reports do not focus on their CR activities outside India.

A majority of Indian subsidiaries (52%) could not cite any reasons for not reporting the CR issues to the headquarters or parent organisation, with a sizeable percentage (30%) denying there being any problems in reporting CR issues outside India. The predominant reason for not reporting CR issues outside India was that their subsidiaries were independent (11%). Seven percent were of the opinion that they were bound by domestic norms of the country the companies operating in and not international ones. The remainder (4%) said it had never been done it before, but that that did not rule out the possibility of them doing it in the future.
