7.1.2 Information on CR issues in public domain

Only 19 percent of the respondents claimed to be aware of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). MNCs, expectedly, had the highest proportion (31%) of awareness of GRI. Awareness of GRI amongst PSUs and Indian companies was quite low with around 82 percent in each category.

7.2.2 CR reporting aligned with GRI

About 35 percent of the companies (who were aware of GRI) reported that their CR reporting was aligned with GRI. On making a comparison across types of companies, 67 percent of the MNCs reported the same. The figures for the same amongst PSUs were around 47 percent while for the Indian companies it was quite low at 28 percent.

On enquiring about which department was responsible for CR reporting the HR department was found responsible for CR reporting with around 30 percent of the respondents saying so. The other departments mentioned were Corporate Affairs (9%) and CRC department (5 %).
