Explanatory note: Respondents were asked to mention any significant initiatives that were launched in the last three years, which were addressed to the key stakeholders. On analysing it was found that ‘health’, ‘environment’, ‘natural disaster management’ and ‘education’ were the major areas in which the companies had launched significant CR initiatives. Nearly 30 percent of the respondents didn’t know of any significant initiatives launched in the last three years and close to 30 percent of the respondents replied that their company had launched no significant initiative addressed to the key stakeholders in the last three years. A comparison of CR initiatives across different sector reveals that there is no major difference in the major areas where CR initiatives were launched. FMCG companies and IT companies demonstrate a slightly different trend with the FMCG companies launching initiatives mainly in the area of ‘environment’ and IT companies launching initiatives mainly in the areas of ‘natural disaster management’ and ‘education’.

8.4 Mechanism to identify needs of marginalised and vulnerable stakeholders

Merely 19 percent of the companies reported to have mechanisms to identify the needs of the most marginalized or vulnerable stakeholders. A look at the same across the different types of companies shows that only 16 percent Indian companies reported to have such mechanism. The figure for the same amongst the MNCs and PSUs was 28 percent.
