Our Vision

PiC’s vision is of a world where improving the quality of life of disadvantaged people, communities and the environment is recognised and practised as an essential part of doing business.

Our Mission

PiC's mission is to increase the understanding and active participation of business in equitable social development as an integral part of good business practice by promoting partnerships between business, disadvantaged communities, development initiatives and government.

The Third Strategy Plan (2006-2010)

The year starting January 2006 marked PiC’s entry to the third Strategy Plan period 2007-2010, this also marked the end of core funding support from AAI (India). During 2007-2008, PiC has developed the third Strategy Plan including new Mision Goals and Strategic Objectives.

Mission Goals (MG) and Strategic Objectives (SO)


MG 1: To integrate Corporate Responsibility issues into business decision making across its sphere of influence in association with its stakeholders.

SO1: Demonstrating to businesses opportunities for enhancing their positive impact on the lives of its stakeholders particularly, vulnerable and disadvantaged
SO2: Assisting companies in integrating CR issues across their value chain
SO3: Promoting the business contribution to the achievement of MDGs
SO4: Engaging with business on its human rights impact and performance
SO5: To promote the understanding and practice of social responsibility issues in the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises
SO6: Promote the understanding and benefits of sustainability Reporting



MG 2: To work with vulnerable and marginalized communities, workers, other stakeholders and organizations representing them to engage with business on CR issues impacting them.

SO1: Facilitate fairer terms of trade and market access for the poor and help different stakeholders to work with each other
SO2: Assisting companies in integrating CR issues across their value chain
SO3: Enhance the capacity of CSOs to engage in the development of national and international CR standards
SO4: To provide for representation of the perspectives of vulnerable and marginalized stakeholders in national & international initiatives promoting the responsible business



MG 3: Engage with Governments at the Central and State Level to create conditions that promote responsible business.

SO1: Work towards an establishment of a national level agency for social responsibility issues within government
SO2: Promoting government’s involvement in and support for participation of other stakeholders in the development of international and national norms and standards for social responsibility
SO3: Support the demonstration of leadership in CR initiatives in PSUs and business where government is a major shareholder
SO4: Mainstreaming CR issues in national Stock Exchanges
SO5: Mainstreaming CR on the agenda of key South Asian fora



MG 4: The preparation of a future generation of business leadership committed to sustainable business.

SO1: Integrate CR education (research and teaching) in the core curricula of leading Business Schools
SO2: Providing skills and opportunities for leadership student organizations to influence the CR agenda
SO3: Provide opportunities for leading business and other stakeholders to contribute to the achievement of SO 1 and SO 2



Enablers

PiC recognizes the the achievement of its four mission goals is facilitated by the following enablers:

  1. Our participation in Global, Regional and National alliances and networks promoting Corporate Responsibility (CR)
  2. Our continued promotion and facilitation of cross sector partnerships for sustainable development
  3. Our continued commitment to generation and dissemination of CR knowledge and research globally
